FIRST AID KITS

I will prepare a check list of items for a 72 hour kit and bring it to church. You may find some or a lot of items you already have around your home, its just a matter of gathering them together.
I personally don't have a good first aid kit. So I thought I would ask and see if anyone else is interested. I have sent an e-mail to St Johns to find out what kit would be best for a 72 hour kit and see if we can fill a bulk buy order for a discount. The website shows different kinds of First Aid kits available from basic to comprehensive. If bulk buy is not available or we can't get numbers i did see the standard one in the Castle Hill post office yesterday for $19.95. The other option is buy things separately but I think if you can get it in one go why not?

1/2 Price Decor storage containers

For those of you who have not seen the latest BigW catalogue there is a 1/2 price sale on the whole Decor Tellfresh range until next Wednesday 25th March.

On another note I have began calling some places for some good bulk buy items. Please let me know if there is something specific you would like to get. I will post a list of items that we are able to purchase. I am hoping to recieve my first sample tomorrow of an interesting product called strawberry powder. This product can be used in smoothies, yoghurt and other recipes that need a strawberry flavour kick. The product is made by dry freezing strawberries so all the moisture is taken and them crushing them to make the powder. I will be in touch when I have more info.

Good Food Sales this week.....

I don't know if you are like me but I always go through my Coles and Woolworths catalogues to checkout the bargains. I am usually a woolworths buyer but this week Coles has some good bargains.

If you are after some bulkbuy choices this is a good week. I checked out the Frozberries website for frozen raspberries as they are my fav. They are about $9.90/kg. However Coles has 1kg raspberries by Creative Gourmet for $10. This is a good price and worth snagging if you like this type of thing.
You can also get:
4L of good quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil for $24 (Woolies has a similar special but $27.97 for 4L)
2L of Big Red Heinz Tomato sauce $4
10kg of Jasmine rice $20 ( I am not sure if this is a best buy or not, i have never purchase large bags like this before, but $2/kg sounds good)
Nestle 125g-200g chocolate blocks are $2 (good to put in 72 hr kits)
Cadbury Dark chocolate blocks are $3.50 (good for 72 hr kits)

There are heaps more but these are good buys for food storage.

If anyone knows of a good bargain or a spot special not just food, let us all know by giving me buzz. My e-mail is: renrut22@hotmail.com

Co-op Stop

The blog run by Suzi Perryman in Normanhurst Ward provides information about food storage and she also organises bulk orders for food supplies. This is a great resource, however I have to note that she limits her food supplies to Australian made and organic only. While I think this is noble, for a lot of us out there, our budgets may not allow for this. But do take a look around her blog for some great information. For people in the Hills area, our contact is Sharon Innis who is in Kellyville 1st Ward. She takes orders for bulk buy items. She lives in Beaumont Hills and I have picked up an order from her in the past. She is super helpful. Her contact number is in the Stake Calendar but I will list her e-mail contact when I get it.
I will be looking into other bulk buy items and I will keep you posted about that. Bishop hobby has a contact in WA which we will also be looking into as well. If anyone has a special request for bullk buy let me know and I will find out what I can. I am researching bulk buy chocolate chips/melts for cooking most places have 5kg bags. When I have more specifics like prices I will post them here.
